Barry Lopez wanted to create the opportunity for artists, writers, and composers to participate in the conversation surrounding climate change and our future. The Foundation’s Board and Advisory Committee review submissions that align with our mission and programs on a quarterly basis. Announcements of upcoming fellowship opportunities are also made in our biannual newsletter and on our Instagram page.
We are currently interested in recent work that addresses the following themes: the connection between topography and biography; wildfire in the American West; the waning age of glaciers; the narrative language of rivers; and cosmology and the night sky. Artists working in any media are welcome to submit up to 20 images or a short video or audio file of no more than ten minutes, a one-page project statement, and a resume to submissions@barrylopezfoundation.org
The Barry Lopez Foundation does not offer funding or sponsorship for exhibitions organized by outside organizations or individual artists.
