Please join us for the New York premiere of John Luther Adams’s Crossing Open Ground, outdoors at Lincoln Center on Saturday, April 27 at 11:00 am and 4:00 pm. Admission is free and tickets are not required.

Presented by Julliard and Lincoln Center in celebration of Earth Month, Crossing Open Ground was co-commissioned in honor of Barry Lopez by the Barry Lopez Foundation for Art & Environment and the Aspen Music Festival. Taking its name from a 1988 collection of Barry’s essays, Crossing Open Ground was inspired by John and Barry’s decades-long friendship and their mutual connection to landscapes in Alaska and beyond. Scored for forty wind, brass, and percussion musicians to be performed on an expansive outdoor stage, Crossing Open Ground encourages us to listen carefully, move thoughtfully, and connect deeply to the places that resonate within all of us.
